LPA Classes and Dress Code
Mommy & Me Dance - Ages 2 and 3 years.
The Mommy & Me Classes are geared toward our smallest dancers who love music and dance. This class helps little ones get used to a dance class structure and ensures an easy transition into a dance program.
Little Dancers will need any color dance attire and pink ballet slippers. Mom’s will need comfortable active wear and socks or dance shoes.
Division 1 - Ages 3 and 4 years.
The Division 1 has been designed to introduce students to the basics of ballet, emphasizing body positions and coordination. Required attire for Division 1 is a black or yellow dance dress with attached skirt. See below for tights and shoes.
Ballet 1 -Students will need pink tights, pink ballet slippers and hair pulled up in a Bun.
Division 2 - Ages 5 and 6 years.
Division 2 classes are structured classes for the beginner student (or Division 1 graduate). Required attire for the Division 2 Level is a pink or periwinkle dance dress with an attached skirt. See below for tights and shoes.
Ballet/Jazz 2 - Students will need pink tights, pink ballet slippers and hair pulled up in a bun.
Tap 2 - Students will need light suntan tights, black ankle strap tap shoes, and hair pulled up.
Division 3 - Ages 7 and 8 years.
Division 3 offers structured classes in Ballet, Jazz/Hip Hop and Tap. Required attire for Division 3 Levels is a burgundy or black dance dress with an attached skirt. See below for tights and shoes.
Ballet 3 - Students will need pink tights, pink ballet slippers and hair in a bun.
Jazz/Hip Hop 3 - Students will need any color tights, pink ballet slippers and hair pulled up.
Tap 3 - Students will need light suntan tights, black ankle strap tap shoes and hair pulled up.
Division 4 - Ages 8 and 9 years.
Division 4 offers structured classes for the experienced student. Required attire for Division 4 Levels is a burgundy or black dance dress with an attached skirt or black or burgundy leotard. Students may wear black accessories (black ballet skirt for Ballet, black fitted jazz shorts, black jazz pants for Jazz/Hip Hop or Tap). See below for tights and shoes.
Ballet 4 - Students will need pink tights, pink ballet slippers and hair in a bun.
Jazz/Hip Hop 4 - Students will need any color tights, black jazz shoes and hair pulled up.
Tap 4 - Students will need light suntan tights, black ankle strap tap shoes and hair pulled up.
Division 5 - Ages 9 - 11 years.
Division 5 Levels are structured classes for the experienced student. Required attire for the Division 5 Levels is a solid color purple leotard (Motionwear color #573) or solid color black leotard. Students may wear black accessories only(black ballet skirt for Ballet, black fitted jazz shorts, black jazz pants for Jazz/Hip Hop or Tap). See below for tights and shoes.
Ballet 5 - Students will need pink tights, pink ballet slippers and hair pulled up in a bun. Recommended two times per week.
Jazz/Hip Hop 5- Students will need any color tights, black jazz shoes, and hair pulled up.
Tap 5- Students will need any color tights, black ankle strap tap shoes and hair pulled up.
Division A
Division A Levels are designed for the more serious experienced dance student. Students at this level are required to attend a ballet class when they are taking jazz or tap . Required attire for the Division A Levels is any solid color leotard and any color tights with hair pulled up. See below for required shoes.
Ballet - Pre-Pointe and/or Pointe work is included in this class. It is required that students attend two ballet classes per week in A Ballet to be able to do pointe work. Students will need pink ballet slippers and hair pulled up in a bun.
Jazz - Students will need any color tights and black jazz shoes.
Hip-Hop - Students will need any color tights and black jazz sneakers.
Tap - Students will need any color tights and black flat tap shoes.
Lyrical - Students will need any color tights and tan jazz shoes.
Modern - Students will need any color footless tights.
Division B & C
Students at this level have made a commitment to dance. Together with the faculty, students customize their schedule to best suit their goals and abilities. These levels are designed for the advanced student committed to daily training and aspiring to a career in dance. It is required that students attend at least two ballet classes per week to be in these levels. Required attire for the Division B & C is any solid color leotard and any color tights with hair pulled up. See below for required shoes.
Ballet -Students will need any color tights, pink ballet slippers and hair in a bun.
Pointe - It is required that students enrolled in any pointe class attend two ballet classes and two pointe classes per week.
Jazz - Students will need any color tights and black jazz shoes.
Hip-Hop- Students will need any color tights and black jazz sneakers.
Lyrical - Students will need any color tights and tan jazz shoes.
Tap - Students will need any color tights and black flat tap shoes.
Modern - Students will need any color footless tights.
Teen Division
The Teen Division is designed for the student who are dancing for recreation and enjoyment. The required attire for the Teen Division is any solid color leotard and any color tights with hair pulled up. Students in the Teen Division are 12 years and up. See below for required shoes.
Ballet - Students will need pink ballet slippers, pointe shoes if requested, and hair in a bun.
Tap - Students will need black flat tap shoes.
Jazz - Students will need black jazz shoes.
Hip-Hop - Students will need black jazz sneakers.
Lyrical - Students will need tan jazz shoes. Ballet is required for this class.
Adult Division
The Adult Division is designed for Adult students who are dancing for recreation and enjoyments.
Boys
Boys are invited and encouraged to join classes at Longwood Performing Arts. Required attire for classes is Black or White T-shirt, Black Jazz Pants or Sweatpants and the proper shoes. For tuition rates, please call 610-444-6144.
